Named for George Sand (1804–1876), the celebrated French novelist, memoirist and independent spirit whose life and writing are deeply connected to central France, La Chambre George Sand offers a peaceful retreat for the solo traveller exploring the Creuse. The room is furnished with a characterful collection of French antiques, including a solid French provincial wooden single bed and complementary furnishings dating primarily from the late 19th to early 20th century, alongside an antique Comtoise-style longcase clock and period-inspired decorative details. The original-style plank floors and ornate pressed ceiling further contribute to the atmosphere of a traditional French country home.

Designed exclusively for one guest, the room combines its historic character with practical modern comforts, including fibre-optic Wi-Fi, fresh bed linen and towels. Guests have access to a spacious shared guest bathroom, fully modernized in 2026 with a rain shower and contemporary amenities, as well as a separate shared WC. Please note that La Chambre George Sand is not air-conditioned. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the dining rooms, living room and library, and garden throughout their stay.

A complimentary homemade breakfast is included each morning, making La Chambre George Sand an affordable and distinctive choice for independent travellers seeking an authentic chambres d’hôtes experience rather than a conventional hotel room. The room accommodates a maximum of one guest, with no provision for additional occupants. Table d’Hôtes dining, optional extras and additional guest services are also available separately for those wishing to experience more of the food, hospitality and rural character of La Maison de la Grange.
